Why buy a car in December?
Is there a perfect time to buy a car? A time when the universe aligns and you get the best deal ever known to the world. Not likely. But there are specific times of the year where you can find more sales and one of those times is in the month of December.
Why December of all months?
Well, one reason is we’re at the end of the year and next year models will be coming out soon. We want to make room for next year models and so we are lowering prices.
A second reason is from Thanksgiving to the New Year, we aren’t just competing with local car dealers. We’re also competing with big retailers that are slashing prices on furniture and electronics. We know money is limited and we need to make it worth your time to take a look at our auto inventory.
What do we have on sale?
We have specials on the Sierra and the Yukon. That’s not it either. Some models even qualify for 0 percent APR for 72 months. We also offer both financing and leasing deals. For more information regarding sale prices this holiday season, reach out to Penske Buick GMC of Cerritos.
Enjoy the holidays everyone and remember to drive safe.
Penske Supports the Military; Penske Driver Brad Keselowski Visits Ft. Bragg Prior To Richmond Race
The Penske family supports the military and Penske racecar driver Brad Keselowski is no exception. We have an excerpt from a Team Penske news story with all the details.
While in the midst of a championship push it would be easy to understand an athlete having a laser focus on the big prize. In Brad Keselowski’s case, that prize is the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) title after enjoying a spectacular NSCS season. His four wins are tied for the series lead and he scored his first victory at Daytona International Speedway in July, which was the 100th NSCS victory for Team Penske. The 2012 champion is as focused as ever on winning his second NSCS championship for “The Captain” Roger Penske, starting next weekend with the first race of the Chase for the Sprint Cup at Chicagoland Speedway. While the commitment it takes to be a top-tier NSCS driver can be time consuming, Keselowski has other passions off the racetrack. Known as the biggest proponent of the military in the NASCAR, he still found time to visit Ft. Bragg with his sponsor, Miller Lite, on Thursday afternoon while en route to Richmond International Raceway for the regular season finale. Ft. Bragg is home to 50,000 servicemen and servicewomen, making it one of the largest military installations in the world. While at Ft. Bragg, Keselowski visited with soldiers at the Womack Army Hospital before transitioning to the North Post Base Exchange and Sports USA, the largest sports bar of its kind in the U.S. Army.
Keselowski has long had an affinity for the nation’s military, something that dates back to his high school days. He once thought about joining the military if his racing career did not work out. After 56 combined NASCAR wins and an XFINITY Series championship to go along with his Sprint Cup title, it is safe to say that Keselowski made a good choice. However, he still makes giving back to the military one of his top priorities. The Brad Keselowski Checkered Flag Foundation strives to support those individuals who have sacrificed greatly, to include military members, veterans, first-responders and their families, among others.
Team Penske Plans to Expand NXS Team
With their first NASCAR XFINITY Series win of this season, Team Penske has announced a plan to return to a two-car system. Previously the team ran a two-car system and due to recent successes they are planning to expand. Since its inception, Team Penske has won 55 NASCAR XFINITY Series, 53 pole positions and four championships. They hope to continue to add to the impeccable resume they have already built with this expansion.
Team Penske History
Team Penske is one of the most successful teams in the history of professional sports and is celebrating its 50th Anniversary during the 2016 season. Their first race was in 1996 and since that start the team has accumulated 430 major race wins, over 500 pole positions and 28 National Championships across open-wheel, stock car and sports car racing. They also have 16 Indianapolis 500 victories, two Daytona 500 Championships, and a Formula 1 win.
Pretty impressive, right?
Team Penske Racing Wins the Quaker State 400
Penske has a long tradition of motorsports and Roger Penske was one of America’s most successful young road racers before electing to retire from driving in 1965 to focus on his first business – a Philadelphia Chevrolet dealership.
The Penske family is proud to mention the recent win of Brad Keselowski at the Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway on July 9th, 2016.
According to a recent article in USA today, Keselowski passed Kevin Harvick on a restart with less than 70 laps to go and notched his third career win at the 1.5-mile track. Keselowski also won at Kentucky in 2012 and 2014, meaning he now has victories in half of the Sprint Cup races run here. It also was the Team Penske driver’s fourth win of the season; he visited victory lane at Las Vegas, Talladega and last week at Daytona.
Even though Team Penske is legendary in open-wheel racing, it hasn’t confined its endeavors to that form of motorsports.
Penske made its NASCAR debut in 1972, the same season the team earned its first Indy 500 victory with Donohue at the wheel.
Continuing to compete in NASCAR, the Can-Am Series and in Indy cars, Penske Racing also debuted its Formula 1 car in 1970s. With legendary racers Tom Sneva, Mario Andretti, Rick Mears and Bobby Unser, Al Unser and Danny Sullivan competing for the team, Penske Racing established itself as an Indy car powerhouse throughout the 70s and 80s.

How Buick Became Buick
David Dunbar Buick began playing with engine manufacturing in the 1890s. Buick as a company was founded in 1899 and the Buick Motor Company was incorporated in 1903 after a few years of engine and model development. Buick only made 37 vehicles the first year in business.
After about a year, David Dunbar Buick sold the company to Benjamin Briscoe, who sold it to James H. Whiting. William C. Durant, co-founder of GM, became the controlling investor shortly thereafter. It wasn’t until William C. Durant took over that the Buick name began to scale out higher-end vehicles to the masses. With a little promotion, a fine product and the ability to scale production, Buick became the largest car maker in America for a while.
In fact, it was the success of Buick that gave Durant the capitol to purchase other car companies to form General Motors. So one could legitimately claim, Buick’s origin story is actually the origin story of General Motors.
Three Car Buying Myths
There are a lot of car buying tips and tricks out there. Some are good suggestions; others are simply myths. Below are the top three myths we think you should know.
1.Rainy day shopping gets you better deals
The belief that rainy days slow down business and forces dealerships to cut deals more often is a fairytale. You’d be surprised how many people shop on rainy days. Rain or shine won’t affect sale prices at Penske Buick GMC of Cerritos, so feel free to shop in any weather you prefer to shop in.
2. You should “trick” the dealership into giving you a better deal
You’re welcome to try and trick us if you wish, but we know what the competition has and what prices they are selling at. Our job is not to trick you into spending more; rather our job is to sell you a car that meets your wants and needs, so when you are shopping for a new car later down the road, you’ll come back to us.
We suggest just taking your time when car shopping and do your research; if you do so, the car you choose will be exactly what you want and you won’t make an impulse buy. Impulse buys are the last thing you want to do with a big purchase like a car.
3. You’ll get a new car cheaper at the end of the month
In reality, you should shop whenever you want, at the end of the month or at the beginning. The idea that you could get a better price on a car at the end of the month is contingent upon the idea that sales quotas aren’t being met at a dealership for that month. Whether sales quotas are met or not, price on a car is more relative to the model, year, and how long it has been on a lot.

How is your credit score determined and what will your credit score mean for your car loan?
Credit reporting agencies like Equifax, TransUnion and Experian assign you a credit score to help banks determine how risky it is to give you a loan. So they look at things like how well you make payments on time, the length of you credit history (or how long you’ve held credit with something like a credit card or another loan). They also look at how much debt you have and what kind it is. Debt is part of growing your credit score but if you have too much, your credit score could go down. There are many ways to check your own credit score if you’re not sure what it is. Scores typically range from 350-850. The higher your score, the better your credit. If you have a lower score, you could still qualify for a loan but you may not get the best rates.
How do financial institutions determine if you qualify for an auto loan? When you apply for a car loan, banks and credit unions will look at things like the vehicle you chose. How much does it cost, how old is it and how many miles are on the vehicle. They’ll also look at factors like your income, how long you’ve been with your employer and your credit score.
What if you have less than perfect credit or don’t meet every factor the banks look at?You may still qualify. The reason financial institutions look at so many different factors is to assess whether or not you can afford the loan you’re applying for. Just because you may have a weaker credit score or short job history or something else like that won’t immediately disqualify you if you’re strong in other areas. Find out if you pre-qualify for a loan here.
How is your monthly payment determined? Your monthly payment will be larger or smaller depending on how much money you put down, how long the loan term is and what the interest rate is. You can use our payment calculator to get an estimate.
